Golder’s Mine Water division has an immediate opening for a Senior Hydrogeologist in the Vancouver, BC office. The primary focus for the Senior Hydrogeologist or Senior Consultant will be to support the existing business of the Vancouver mine groundwater group, and to develop new business opportunities using existing networks. The Senior Hydrogeologist or Senior Consultant will provide guidance to junior an intermediate staff in mine groundwater consulting services. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering services to the mining industry related to hydrogeologic characterization in support of engineering design and environmental impact assessments, as well as experience and technical expertise related to operational mine water management.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Display safety leadership

  • Design and manage complex mine water management studies and programs involving the collection of hydrogeological field data and data interpretation/evaluation.

  • Prepare technical reports; develop proposals.

  • Provide technical support for geological and hydrogeological data visualization, and develop conceptual and numerical groundwater models.

  • Manage tasks and projects, and lead or participate in client and regulatory agency interactions, as appropriate to the level of experience of the individual.

  • Deliver these services safely, on time, within budget, and to the client’s expectations and Golder’s standards.

  • Work collaboratively with other senior members of the group to implement the business growth strategy and develop and maintain relationships with a broad internal and external client base.

  • Mentor junior and intermediate staff.

The successful candidate will have the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hydrogeology or Geological Engineering. Postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.

  • Registered Professional Engineer or Geoscientist.

  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in the mining sector.

  • Connected to the mining business in Canada and Globally, with active contacts and clientele.

  • Flexible, adaptable to change and demanding conditions, and willing to travel for periods of 2 to 3 weeks at a time.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with willingness to work as part of a group.

  • Ability to lead and guide high performing teams.

Desired Skills

The successful candidate should:

· possess mechanical skills to handle and operate sophisticated hydrogeological testing equipment including pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and electronics.

· Be able to demonstrate an innovative approach to technical service delivery, including field data collection methods and analyses.
