Golder has a new opportunity for an Indigenous Engagement& Consultation Specialist to join our Environmental Planning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. The successful candidate will be involved in the regulatory, planning and management aspects of projects and in providing assistance in the continued development of business opportunities throughout British Columbia.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • DevelopingIndigenous engagement strategies and plans for our clients

  • Dependingon client requirements, ongoing support and advice on Indigenous engagement andissues management that may include:

  • Participatingin client meetings with Indigenous groups

  • Identifying,tracking and monitoring issues, concerns, and interests identified byIndigenous groups

  • Advisingclients on Indigenous issues related to project development

  • Assistingclients in integrating Indigenous issues, interests, and inputs into projectplanning, mitigation and monitoring strategies, and other regulatory andcommercial considerations

  • Supportingthe negotiation of agreements between clients and Indigenous groups, asrequired

You will have abackground in:

  • Relevantuniversity degree

  • Experiencewith Indigenous engagement programs

  • Experiencein working with Indigenous traditional land and resource use studies andtraditional ecological information

  • Fiveor more years of relevant work experience, with two or more years in aprofessional consulting and engagement context

  • Technicalwriting skills and excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Demonstratedfamiliarity with CEAA and BCEAO environmental assessment regulatoryrequirements, effects assessment methodology, and analysis for traditional landuse and Indigenous interests

  • Abilityto identify and analyze complex relationship, cultural, and other externalfactors that will impact work process decisions and develop recommendationsfrom such analysis

  • Provenability to track consultation and engagement activities and develop wellresearched and written community consultation and engagement reports

  • Demonstratedability to communicate with clients, senior management, fellow team members,Indigenous groups, regulatory agencies, local stakeholders, and the public

  • Strongcommitment to health and safety

  • Abilityto travel to remote areas of the province for up to two weeks at a time

  • ValidClass 5 driver’s license

  • Experiencein developing and participating in stakeholder and regulatory consultationprograms is an asset

  • Existingrelationships with Indigenous communities in British Columbia are an asset
