Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking an IntermediateGeotechnical Engineer to join our Mine Waste Management Team , at the Vancouver office . You will have the opportunity to work as a part of a regional team on challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects.
Anoverview of your role will include:
Conduct site characterization and materialcharacterization for static and dynamic analyses based on interpretationof field and laboratory data, under the supervision of senior engineers
Carry out advanced 1D, 2D, and 3D, staticand dynamic stress-deformation analyses of geotechnical structures withthe computer software FLAC and FLAC3D; proficiency in programming with thecomputer languages Fish and C are required
Conduct particulate mechanics-based analysesof critical elements of geotechnical structures and advanced laboratorytests
Support the development of advanced constitutivemodels for geotechnical materials
Plan and organize geotechnicalinvestigations and laboratory testing programs tailored to the specificproject and type of geotechnical analyses to be carried out
Conduct geotechnical analyses with a focuson soil mechanics, including stability, seepage, thermal modelling
Manage small projects according toclient-approved scopes of work, and deliver high quality reports on timeand within budget under the supervision of senior engineers
Support technical proposals and designwork package in response to client needs, under the supervision of seniorengineers
Delegate work to junior engineers
Participate in and promote a safety-firstculture; commitment to safe work practices for yourself and yourcolleagues
You willhave a background in:
Bachelor’sDegree in Civil Engineering and PhD Degree with research focused on constitutivemodelling of continuous and particulate media
4to 7 years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consultingengineering or mining industry environment
Indepth knowledge in the areas of soil mechanics, constitutive models,geotechnical earthquake engineering, liquefaction, and standard andadvanced numerical modelling
Currentlyregistered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer inBritish Columbia
Strongtechnical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence
Abilityto think critically and problem solve
Abilityto effectively delegate work and lead small project teams
