Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Marine Structural Engineer to join our Ports, Coastal and Surface Water team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. As Intermediate Marine Structural Engineer , you will be expected to step into a technical specialist role for coastal and port engineering projects in BC, across Canada and internationally. You will join a growing Port and Coastal Engineering Team based in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, and Mississauga that services projects in Oil & Gas, Mining, Transportation, Power and Government sectors.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Assisting with technical delivery of projects or project related tasks associated with marine construction and infrastructure, including dredging, reclamation, ports and marine terminals and marine transportation infrastructure

  • Conducting studies and analyses related to the design of marine and coastal structures for new and existing ports and marine terminals for both large and small projects including preparation of documents for port strategic planning, engineering, procurement, contracting and management of related port and terminal projects

  • Preparation of technical specifications, coordination of drawings, reports and supporting documents for marine infrastructure projects

  • Conducting and supervising inspections for marine construction projects and condition assessments of existing marine structures

  • Participating in multi-disciplinary teams to complete environmental assessments and implement engineering solutions for marine infrastructure projects.

  • Assisting with business development

You will have a background in:

  • University degree (preferably Master’s or Ph.D.) in civil or structural engineering with specialisation in marine structural engineering

  • Professional registration as an Engineer in British Columbia or with proven eligibility for Professional registration in Canada

  • 5 years of work experience in the field of port or marine structural engineering including experience in different phases of development (conceptual, prefeasibility, feasibility, detailed design, etc.) for coastal, port and terminal engineering design projects

  • Solid understanding and experience in a consulting environment would be an asset

  • Proven ability with application of relevant and current structural analysis software tools

  • Familiarity with (international) marine design codes and standards

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills and demonstrated teamwork skills
