Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our Mining Process and Infrastructure Design team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver.
Our services in the core fields of underground backfill and dewatered mine tailings for surface disposal include laboratory testing, conceptual to feasibility level studies, engineering design, construction, commissioning, and project management for diverse clients in local and global mining markets. Additionally, with our expanded service offering we perform design work for crushing / ore handling systems, mine dewatering, pipeline services, shaft design, fuel and lube station, ventilation, and other underground infrastructure.
An overview of your role will include:
Perform conceptual, feasibility, detailed engineering design work
Perform fieldwork including construction support, commissioning, and operational support on an as-required basis
Responsible for developing and writing equipment specifications
Provide mentoring to junior employees
Write and review proposals and reports
Perform Project Lead or Management duties as required
Perform audits and troubleshooting of existing mine infrastructure
Follow Health and Safety responsibilities under all applicable government legislation and Golder policies and procedures
Travel to project sites as required
You will have a background in:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
5 to 8 years of relevant consulting or operating experience in a mine or mill setting
Demonstrated background in elements of backfill, mine infrastructure, tailings processing/dewatering design and/or operations experience
Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D software, plant layout/pump/pipeline system design
would be a plus
Possess Professional Engineer accreditation in the province of Ontario, British Columbia, or eligibility for Professional Engineering Certification in another Canadian province
Proficient in AutoCAD
Proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer usage
Demonstrates a 'Safety First" focus attitude
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment
