Golder has a new opportunity for an IntermediateVegetation Ecologist to join our EnvironmentalPlanning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • Actas Vegetation and Wetlands discipline lead within larger integratedEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and permitting projects for mining andoil and gas clients

  • Developingand leading field programs (e.g., permitting, environmental managementactivities, ecosystems, vegetation, and wetland inventories and assessments)for various types of resource development projects including urban development,power, mines, infrastructure, and oil and gas.

  • Overseeingquality control of field methods and data collection in accordance withinternal Standard Work Instructions

  • Completionof TEM in accordance with provincial standards

  • Preparinghigh quality proposals and technical reports

  • Prepareenvironmental assessments and develop strategies to mitigate impacts to ecosystemsand vegetation

You will have abackground in:

  • MinimumB.Sc. degree with at least 3 years of experience as a biologist

  • Registrationas R.P.Bio. (or eligible for immediate registration) with the BC College ofApplied Biology

  • Experiencewith fieldwork in remote locations

  • Provencommitment to Health and Safety

  • Goodworking knowledge of the flora of BC

  • Experiencewith the collection of ecological data in support of TEM (e.g., applying theField Manual for Describing Terrestrial Ecosystems, 2nd Edition)

  • Familiaritywith/proficient in the use of ArcGIS

  • Experiencewith the completion of TEM, including ortho-imagery interpretation and the useof digital elevation/ slope-aspect models

  • ValidClass 5 driver’s licence (note - Golder collects abstracts / Motor VehicleRecords for all new and current employees identified as Golder Drivers)

  • Willingnessto perform fieldwork in various weather conditions and for extended periods.

  • Strongorganizational, interpersonal and time management skills

  • Goodwritten and verbal communication skills

  • Theability to work in a dynamic environment with limited supervision.

  • Abilityto work in a team-oriented environment

  • Basedon client requirements, staff can be subject to random drug and alcohol testing

The following experienceand training would be considered an asset:

  • Experienceworking with ATVs/UTVs/Argos, trailering, offroad/resource road driving

  • Goodoutdoor survival skills and experience working and navigating in remote areasin a safe manner

  • Workingknowledge of the soils of BC

  • Knowledgeof/experience with terrain classification in BC

  • Knowledgeof applicable provincial and federal environmental regulatory permitting requirements
