The Vancouver office of Golder Associates is seeking an AutoCAD Technician to join our dynamic Mine Waste Management team. This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your technical skills in the field with like-minded professionals in an employee-owned international engineering firm.

The successful candidate will be involved in a broad range of responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the various engineering and environmental groups to fill the needs of our internal and external clients in providing engineering design and drafting services;

  • Producing maps from topographic data and survey field notes;

  • Preparing key plans, site plans, and site design drawings including cross-sections, profiles, construction drawings, as-built drawings, tender documents, figures, sketches, and charts for presentation in reports and proposals;

  • Performing calculations (such as volume and area estimates using CAD tools) and provide technical assistance to the project design teams;

  • Preparing civil engineering design drawings;

  • Input of test hole log data into specialized database software; and,

  • Being responsible for product quality control with adherence to company standards and procedures.

The preferred candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • One year of relevant experience (site plans and engineering drawings) working with AutoCAD is preferred;

  • A technical diploma, CAD certificate or equivalent is required;

  • A working knowledge of AutoCAD is required, and experience with Civil3D is preferred;

  • A commitment to CAD standards and procedures is essential to this function;

  • Good problem solver with ability to identify alternative solutions;

  • Ability to perform various calculations and data manipulation in Excel;

  • The ability to work with multiple people and prioritize tasks is a must;

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;

  • This role may require infrequent travel;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, and be highly organized;

  • The ability to learn and work with any of the following software would be considered an asset: AutoCAD Civil3D, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design, Surfer, gINT.
