Golder Associates Junior Environmental Management Specialist in VANCOUVER, British Columbia

Golder has a new opportunity for an Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Management and Construction Compliance Consultant on a full-time basis based in Vancouver.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Providing technical support related to compliance and management systems auditing, management systems development and implementation projects, hazard / risk identification, assessment and controls, emergency preparedness and response planning, pollution prevention planning and due diligence, as appropriate.

  • Providing technical support for construction environmental monitoring and auditing for implementation during the construction phases of linear and static projects, contributing to the development of environmental plans for managing environmental risks during construction (i.e., Environmental Management Plans, Environmental Protection Plans, Soil and Water Management Plans and Erosion and Sediment Control Plans).

  • Collaborating with, and to the extent necessary providing support to, other discipline teams in Golder’s Environmental Permitting and Planning Group.

  • Participating with other Golder staff, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally in the development and review of the HSE Compliance & Management business in Golder.

  • Meeting with existing and new Golder clients and assisting with planning, design, and development of HSE Compliance & Management services.

You will have a background in:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (Master’s preferred).

  • 1 – 2 years of relevant consulting or industry experience.

  • Eligible or actively working towards professional certifications in one or more of the following fields: environmental auditing [e.g. EP(certified environmental auditor) or environmental EP(environmental management systems)], EP (environmental management)], safety (e.g. Canadian Registered Safety Professional), toxics reduction planning (e.g. Certified Planner), Engineer-in-training (EIT), Applied Science Technologist (AScT), or Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC).

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in industrial settings within the manufacturing sector.

  • Experience with in-situ soil and water sampling and monitoring.

  • Strong understanding of federal and provincial legislation including permit, authorizations and approvals processes.

  • Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude

  • Strong interpersonal, technical writing and communication skills

  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude and ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to take direction and work in both a team environment and independently

  • A willingness to support out of town assignments

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel and general computer usage.
