Golder Associates’ Construction Operations is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Estimator for its Vancouver office . In this position you will be responsible for responding to internal and external requests for proposals and cost estimates, reviewing estimates and proposals prepared by Golder’s Project Managers and more junior Estimators, subcontractor and supplier engagement and management, and ensuring all proposals comply with the Golder risk management policies.
Responsibilities include :
Development and analysis of options for means and methods of construction.
Preparation of construction schedules using precedence network scheduling methods.
Client and Sub-Contractor relations management.
Bid-stage review of construction agreements and coordination with in-house legal counsel to negotiate acceptable terms.
Preparation of complete cost proposals for both internal and external clients.
Review of proposals and estimates prepared by other Project and Construction Managers.
Application of the Golder risk management procedures and protocols for all cost estimates, subcontracts and client contracts and proposals prepared in the operation.
Preparation of cost estimates using estimating software (ie: HCSS HeavyBid).
Identify inherent project risks, and evaluate alternative means or methods to mitigate and/or quantify risks.
Review of contractual agreements, terms and conditions for subcontracts, major supply agreements and client contracts.
Application of Golder’s ISO 9001:2000 and GAIMS Quality Assurance program at the project level.
Executing strategic business development initiatives.
Leading and supporting client meetings.
Provide guidance/mentorship to entry-level Golder employees and be a positive role model.
You will have a background in:
Qualification in civil engineering or related discipline with 7 years relevant work experience in civil construction, cost estimating, cost consulting, scheduling, and cost control;
Well-versed in Prime/General Contractor Health & Safety requirements, and project General Conditions;
Knowledge of standard project management software (Word, Excel, Access, MS Project, HCSS HeavyJob and/or HeavyBid or similar Estimating software, etc.);Knowledge of construction safety laws and regulations in applicable jurisdictions and terms and conditions of contracts
