Golder has a new opportunity for an experienced and motivated mid to senior-level Engineering Geologist to support geohazard and infrastructure projects in our Redmond, WA office in a full-time position.

The qualified candidate shall be a registered Geologist and/ or Engineering Geologist in the State of Washington with a minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering consulting. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of Puget Sound geology and experience in planning and executing small and large field exploration programs. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated team leadership skills, a positive attitude and strong project management skills.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients by providing technical expertise, attending client meetings and leading project development pursuits

  • Supervise and manage geologists to perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards;

  • Plan and manage simple and complex subsurface field geologic exploration programs including drilling and test pit explorations;

  • Provide interpretation of subsurface conditions and develop conceptual geologic models

  • Review geologic samples and geologic unit identification, assign laboratory testing and supervise the preparation of exploration records;

  • Provide direction on the installation of monitoring wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers etc);

  • Interpret geologic data and write geotechnical and geologic reports;

  • Conduct geologic research, write project proposals and reports;

  • Provide technical direction and oversight as well as mentoring and training to junior-level Golder staff.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences or Geological Engineering preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience

  • Experience managing complex subsurface investigations including: drilling, soil classification, monitoring well installation and instrumentation;

  • Experience and proficiency using GIS to identify geologic hazards using remote sensing data (LIDAR and aerial imagery);

  • Candidates must be willing to work in the field conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of terrain and weather conditions;

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.;

  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills, with demonstrated report writing skills;

Preferences:

  • Experience with management of mid to large-size, multi-disciplinary projects;

  • Specialized computer skills including database applications, AutoCAD, GIS and gINT;
