Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Socio-Economist to join our Environmental Planning& Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. Our team of social scientists and engagement specialists works in Canada and internationally on environmental impact assessments; policy and program development; social management planning, sustainability initiatives, engagement, social due diligence, and third-party monitoring.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • Leadeconomic baseline and impact assessments as a component of socio-economicassessments and environmental impact assessments for projects

  • Leadother technical aspects of socio-economic and land and marine use baseline andimpact assessments

  • Supportthird party due diligence and compliance reviews

  • Managejunior and intermediate staff in secondary research and primary data collectionand field work, including data collection with Indigenous groups and publicstakeholders

  • Leadthe development of socio-economic management plans for projects, to meetregulatory and corporate requirements and best practice, with a focus oneconomic components

  • Businessdevelopment including marketing of Golder’s socio-economic assessment,Indigenous, and public engagement services

  • Proposalpreparation

  • Projectmanagement

You will have abackground in:

  • Adegree in economics preferred, or degree in social sciences with a strongeconomics background and expertise

  • Expertisein input-output modeling, cost benefit analysis, economic valuationmethodologies, and economic development planning

  • Experienceleading technical teams

  • Experienceleading collection and analysis of primary economic and social data (such as surveys,interviews, focus groups, and community meetings)

  • Familiarworking within provincial and federal impact assessment regulatory frameworks

  • Minimumof 7 years of relevant professional experience

  • Experienceworking on large projects involving multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experienceworking with Indigenous groups and public stakeholders

  • Strongteam player – ability to work with all levels of an organization

  • Strongcommitment to health and safety

  • Abilityto travel

  • Validclass 5 driver’s license
