Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Socio-Economist to join our Environmental Planning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver.

Our team of social scientists and engagement specialists works in Canada and internationally on environmental impact assessments; policy and program development; social management planning, sustainability initiatives, engagement, social due diligence, and third-party monitoring.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Lead economic baseline and impact assessments as a component of socio-economic assessments and environmental impact assessments for projects

  • Lead other technical aspects of socio-economic and land and marine use baseline and impact assessments

  • Support third party due diligence and compliance reviews

  • Manage junior and intermediate staff in secondary research and primary data collection and field work, including data collection with Indigenous groups and public stakeholders

  • Lead the development of socio-economic management plans for projects, to meet regulatory and corporate requirements and best practice, with a focus on economic components

  • Business development including marketing of Golder’s socio-economic assessment, Indigenous, and public engagement services

  • Proposal preparation

  • Project management

You will have a background in:

  • A degree in economics preferred, or degree in social sciences with a strong economics background and expertise

  • Expertise in input-output modeling, multiple accounts analysis, cost benefit analysis, and economic development planning

  • Experience leading teams in collection and analysis of primary economic and social data (such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and community meetings)

  • Familiar working within provincial and federal impact assessment regulatory frameworks

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience

  • Experience working on large projects involving multi-disciplinary teams

  • Experience working with, and supporting consultation and engagement with Indigenous groups and public stakeholders

  • Strong team player – ability to work with all levels of an organization

  • Strong commitment to health and safety

  • Ability to travel

  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
