Golder Associates continued growth has resulted in the need for a Senior Underground Mining Engineer – Block Caving to join our community of high performing engineers, scientists, and business professionals in our Vancouver Office.
A key part of Golder Associates Deep and Mass Mining initiative is to assess mine design reliability at the scoping through to operating stages. We strive to fo
recast realistic operating condition ranges and evaluate the scenarios that are most likely for a mine to achieve on financial return. As a safety-conscious professional, you will bring your technical and managerial strengths to helping us build our mass mining services in the following areas:
Utilize your expertise to conduct a full range of mine engineering functions including;
Mine design and layout in block caving mines;
Equipment selection and productivity calculations;
Operating cost estimation (developing first-principles cost models, cost benchmarking, conceptual cost estimating);
Capital cost estimation;
Ventilation design (knowledge of VentSim or equivalent software is an asset).
Apply Golder’s Project Management standards to manage all aspects of projects;
Identify, develop, and follow through on new business opportunities;
Contribute to proposal preparation and project budgeting;
Use your client focus to develop and maintain exceptional relations with clients;
Demonstrate a “Safety First” focus and act as a role model to staff;
Utilize your exceptional leadership skills to coach, mentor, and develop junior employees;
Use your high standard of ethical behaviour to promote and support Golder’s Core Values and Culture.
As a key member of the Mining Engineering and Geology Group (MEG), you will possess the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering;
Registered Professional Engineer;
A minimum of 15 years relevant experience with an emphasis on block cave mine planning, design, operations and scheduling;
Experience as a consulting engineer, or a technical services role within a mining company;
Previous experience managing projects;
Success in both leading and participating in teams;
Track record of delivery and client satisfaction;
Preparing technical reports including NI 43-101, JORC or SAMREC reporting;
Extensive experience in utilizing appropriate mine planning, design and scheduling software packages such as PCBC/PCSLC (or related), ARENA, Deswick, Vulcan, Surpac, Mine2-4D / Datamine, Gems;
Experience in other mining methods (sub-level caving, longhole stoping, etc) is an asset;
Fluent in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) an asset;
Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation skills.
