Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior VegetationEcologist to join our team on a fulltime basis based in Vancouver in our Environmental Planning and Permitting Group .

An overview of your role will include:

  • Actingas a Vegetation and Wetlands discipline lead within larger integratedEnvironmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

  • Developingand leading field programs (ie. Permitting, environmental management activities,ecosystems, vegetation and wetland inventories and assessments)

  • Overseeingquality control of field methods and data collection in accordance with internalStandard Work Instructions

  • Completionof Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) in accordance with applicable provincialstandards

  • Preparinghigh quality proposals and technical reports

  • Preparingenvironmental assessments and developing strategies to mitigate impacts toecosystems and vegetation

  • Samplingdesign and collection of ecological field data

  • Workingwith various types of resource development projects including urbandevelopment, power, mines, infrastructure and oil and gas

This role will be responsible for:

  • MinimumBSc degree with at least 7 years of experience as a biologist

  • Registrationas RPBio (or eligible for immediate registration) with the BC College ofApplied Biology

  • Experiencewith field work in remote locations

  • Provencommitment to Health and Safety and good working knowledge of the flora of BC

  • Experiencewith the collection of ecological data in support of TEM (e.g., applying the FieldManual for Describing Terrestrial Ecosystems, 2 nd Edition).

  • Experiencein the use of ArcGIS

  • Experiencewith the completion of TEM, including ortho-imagery interpretation and the useof digital elevation/slope-aspect models

  • Willingnessto perform fieldwork in various weather conditions for extended periods

  • Demonstratedability to supervise and mentor junior and intermediate staff

  • Abilityto work in a team-oriented, dynamic environment
