Golder has a new opportunity for a Technical Buyer to join our Construction team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver or Calgary.
The Buyer will support projects at both the bidding stage and during execution by securing favourable pricing and terms from reputable suppliers and sub-contractors. The buyer will also support the construction group’s regional and national management teams to continually improve group spend.
An overview of your role will include:
Develop, hone and execute new improved procurement strategies across Golder’s national construction operation
Evaluate and enhance our operations in local spend
Delegate tasks and supervise the work of project level purchasing personnel (project managers, project coordinators and site administrators)
Manage every aspect of construction project supply chains and notify the senior management team of any possible obstacles to ideal efficiency
Institute policies and procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics that will reduce our overall expenses while increasing productivity
Perform cost analysis and set appropriate benchmarks
Assist in developing business cases for procurement of large and specialty equipment
Critically review cost estimates and project budgets for opportunities to improve margin through improved purchasing arrangements
Coordinate with Accounts Receivable to confirm supplier payments
Create policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation
You will have abackground in:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting preferred
6 years’ experience in procurement or purchasing
4 years’ experience in construction industrypreferred
Excellent managerial and training skills
Multilingual preferred, English plus French orSpanish
