Golder is looking for an aquatic scientist with consulting experience to join our Risk Assessment team on a full-time basis based in Melbourne. You will provide technical leadership, be part of multidisciplinary teams, deliver technical excellence and provide pragmatic advice. You will need to be driven, motivated to find solutions to site, contaminant and environmentally specific circumstances, while cognisant of stakeholder priorities and limitations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
Assisting with technical leadership and delivery of environmental projects associated with marine and freshwater environments which may include ecological impact assessments (EcIA), environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA); environmental approvals and permitting; Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA); sediment and surface water quality characterisation (with particular focus on contamination); remediation of contaminated sites.
Assisting in preparation of sampling and analysis quality plans, proposals and reports for environmental assessments
Assisting with data processing, statistical analyses and interpretation of results
Seeking and fostering strong, loyal client relationships (both internal and external)
Engaging in community and stakeholder consultation, including regulator engagement/negotiation
Supporting in development approvals and permitting across different legislative frameworks
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental or Marine Science, or related discipline;
8 or more years relevant experience as well as extensive fieldwork experience in marine and/or freshwater environments:
Broad knowledge of related discipline areas outside primary area of expertise;
Extensive fieldwork experience in marine and/or freshwater environments;
Demonstrated understanding of robust survey design principles
Experience in mentoring and supervising staff
