Golder has a new opportunity for an IntermediateMarine Biologist to join our EnvironmentalPlanning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Victoria.

An overview of yourrole will include:

  • Providingleadership in health and safety

  • Contributingto study design for marine investigative programs.

  • Developingproposals, work plans, and budgets for marine-based field programs and desktopstudies

  • Producinghigh quality technical reports

  • Applicationof biological survey methods, advanced data analysis including statistics, andpreparation of technical reports based on current scientific knowledge,baseline data collection, and peer reviewed literature

  • Preparingpermits / regulatory approval applications and representing Golder attechnical, regulatory agency and client meetings

  • Contributingto the coordinated development of business opportunities in the field of marinesciences with a focus on marine ecology, fisheries and/or marine mammalsciences

  • Maintaininga strong rapport with applicable regulatory agencies, technical organizationsand relevant subcontractors

  • Providingmentoring and training to existing junior and intermediate staff

You will have abackground in:

  • MinimumMaster’s degree in marine ecology, marine biology, zoology, or equivalent

  • Fiveor more years of relevant work experience, ideally with two or more years ofrelevant experience in a professional consulting context

  • Experienceleading teams and providing mentorship and training to junior staff forsuccessful project delivery is desired.

  • Experiencein project development, project management, proposal writing, budgetdevelopment and budget management is desired.

  • Specializedskill set in marine mammal sciences, fisheries biology, and/or marine ecology

  • Demonstratedexperience in study/survey design specific to marine field studies,environmental monitoring programs, abundance surveys, biological inventoriesand habitat offsetting/compensation programs

  • Provenskills in technical writing, statistical analysis and interpreting technical documents

  • Workingknowledge of federal and provincial environmental legislation as related tocoastal development projects and potential impacts on fish and fish habitat,migratory birds, water quality and shipping

  • Demonstratedexperience preparing regulatory permit applications and authorizations

  • Demonstratedknowledge of the environmental assessment process in at least one Canadianjurisdiction and industry-standard EIA methodology used to assessproject-related effects on valued marine ecosystem components

  • Strongleadership skills and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstratedability to communicate with clients, senior management, fellow team members,regulatory agencies, local stakeholders, First Nations groups, and the public

  • Strongcommitment to Health and Safety

  • Membershipin the College of Applied Biology

  • Eligibilityto register as a Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) in the Province of BritishColumbia
