We have a new exciting opportunity for a “Mine Closure Technical Lead” to join our team on a full-time contract basis at any of our offices in LAC.
The Global Mining Group provides integrated engineering and environmental services to the mining industry, with clients that include mining companies, consultants, engineering firms, and financial institutions. The Golder Mining Group operates at a global level through a network of mining specialists located in North and Latin America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the Asia Pacific region, providing a series of unique service packages that cover environmental impact assessment and permitting, mine design, operation, and waste management, and mine rehabilitation and closure. A global presence allows for broad, reliable, and innovative services on a worldwide scale.
This role is an integral part of the development and delivery of the Mining Group strategy for the Golder Global Mining group. The primary focus area for the Mine Closure Technical Lead is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of closure plans and related studies for some of the world’s top mining companies whilst maintaining technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities include:
Deliver leading practice consulting services to internal and external clients in the areas of mine closure design, closure costing, rehabilitation, and development of mine closure plans
The leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional, and international consulting projects, so they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client and Golder’s standards
Coordinating multidisciplinary teams to develop winning proposals and deliver projects
Work collaboratively with other senior members of the Golder Mining team to implement business growth strategy and develop and maintain relationships with a broad client base
Support continued growth in the provision of closure and reclamation services for both national and international work.
Mentor and grow multidisciplinary teams of professionals
In conjunction with the Divisional Leader and support from the Marketing team, identify, coordinate and undertake marketing and promotional activities
Establish linkages with other business units to support and enhance service delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
At least 15 years of professional experience, with a significant focus on mine closure
Relevant Degree within or science degree in a related field. Preference for advanced degrees (MSc/PhD).
Professional Engineer (PE) License desirable.
Experience with the development and execution of mine closure plans, preferably working with major mining companies.
A strong technical background and experience in a technical field related to mine closure (including, but not limited to, fields such as reclamation, geochemistry, water management, and geotechnical engineering)
Demonstrated success in the consulting field, with the ability to build multidisciplinary teams, develop business, and provide excellent client service.
Full professional proficiency in Spanish, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong English language skills a must, as regular interaction with international teams will be required. Other language skills also an asset, particularly Portuguese and French.
A history of publishing/presenting on closure related topics is desirable
Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders (verbal and written)
Excellent planning and organization skills
