Golder’s Mine Engineering and Stability Division (MES) is seeking i ntermediate level Rock Mechanics Engineers to join our growing team of designers, scientists, and engineers. Our expanding services in the core field of underground mining, caving, site characterization, and mine design, include operating mine site support, conceptual to feasibility level studies, engineering design, construction, and project management for diverse clients in local and global mining markets.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performingconceptual, feasibility, and detailed engineering design work
Performingfield work, data collection, field testing, data analysis, excavationstability assessments, and calculations
Responsiblefor implementing and managing rock engineering design project tasks underthe direction of the lead engineer
Provisionof mentoring to junior employees
Writingand reviewing proposals and reports
PerformingProject Management duties as required
Performing/ assisting with audits and reviews of excavation stability and groundsupport systems at mine sites
FollowHealth and Safety responsibilities under all applicable governmentlegislations and Golder policies and procedures
Travelto project sites as required
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
B.A.Scin Mining or Geological Engineering
4 to7 years of relevant consulting or operating experience in a mining orconsulting setting
GoodEnglish both in communicating and writing.
Demonstratedbackground in rock engineering, mining methods, mine planning, andoperational experience
Proficientwith Microsoft Office and general computer usage
Proficiencyin simple stress modelling tools such as the RocScience suite and MAP3Dwould be considered an asset
Demonstratedpractical interpretation of rock engineering assessment tools such asnumerical stress models
Demonstratesa 'Safety First" focus attitude
Strong organizational skills
Businessacumen (not required but would be an asset)
Excellentcommunication skills (written and verbal)
Strongpeople skills and an ability to work in a team environment (ability tocommunicate with clients would be an asset)
