Golder Associates Senior CQA Field Technician in WALNUT CREEK, California

Golder is seeking a Senior CQA Field Technician for our California operations. The successful candidate will conduct Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) services for earthen and geosynthetic containment systems for a variety of CA solid waste landfill and mining facilities.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Nuclear gauge operation, testing and sampling of soils

  • Geosynthetics monitoring and testing

  • Reporting daily and weekly activities associates with the assigned project

  • Working closely with Golder Project Managers, Owners, and Contractors in communication of results, issues or concerns

  • Training and mentoring junior staff on CQA procedures


  • Successful candidate will be a self-starter who is capable of working with little supervision and has a desire to learn.

  • 5 years of experience in completing at least 5 CQA projects involving waste containment liner systems with both geosynthetics and soils in California

  • Nuclear gauge certification

  • Experience with clay liner inspection and compaction testing, soils laboratory testing, and geosynthetics inspection and testing including HDPE geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, non-woven geotextiles, and geocomposite drainage layers

  • The ability to perform all duties within established deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

  • The ability to read and understand construction documents (i.e., plans and technical specifications) and to proactively identify construction issues in the field

  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients; flexibility to work in a team environment and the ability to maintain confidential information required.

  • Highly developed organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness and desire to mentor and train junior staff.

  • Must be willing and able to travel for extended periods.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

  • This position attracts California Prevailing Wage for some assignments
