Golder Associates Senior Engineer in WALNUT CREEK, California

Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our Walnut Creek, CA team in a full-time position.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Perform pipeline engineering design, including pipeline alignment sheet development, road-crossing design, water crossing design, and, HDD.

  • Apply mechanical design experience including pipe stress calculations, coating selection, valve assembly design, drawing review and equipment data sheets to develop project technical documents such as design criteria, report, specifications, drawings, etc.

  • Utilize pipeline stress analysis modelling and software.

  • Provide field project coordination, engineering services and troubleshooting with direct client interface.

  • Contribute technical expertise for small to medium size projects.

  • Provide support to external customers.


  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field plus 2 years of related work experience.

  • Must possess Professional Engineer (PE) certified in California, or ability to obtain PE in California.

  • Possess 2 years of experience in the following:

  • Working in the oil and gas sector;

  • Engineering design and consulting experience for pipeline systems and other processes, which transport liquids or gases;

  • Application of North American pipeline design codes and standards, such as ASME B31.4, 31.8, CSA z662, 49 CFR part 192 and 195, API 1104, and, API 1102;

  • Experience in design techniques and solutions applicable to large bore, long distance pipelines;

  • Demonstrated understanding of pipe manufacturing techniques, welding standards, material selection, and pipeline construction;

  • Demonstrated understanding of industry standard pipeline design tools including AutoPIPE or Caesar II, Pipeline Toolbox;

  • Experience in the development of material requisitions and pipeline construction scopes of work; and,

  • Field experience in pipeline inspection and testing.
