Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our Rock Mechanics team for a Hydrogeologist/ Geotechnical Engineer based in Perth. The role includes interpreting and analysing hydrogeological, geological and geotechnical data to support development of conceptual and numerical models that feed into open pit and underground mine design. This role has access to, and will be well-supported by, specialists in the hydrogeological and geotechnical fields both locally and globally.
This role would ideally suit someone who has intermediate to senior level modelling skills and operational experience in the hydrogeology and geotechnical disciplines. You will be able to communicate clearly and share pragmatic approaches for representing water in mine stability challenges.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Interpreting hydrogeological and geotechnical data, performing analyses and developing conclusions/recommendations for input into mine design;
Characterising hydrogeological conditions and material properties and supporting development of testing plans;
Providing technical direction to mining geotechnical investigation planning and execution;
Project management of hydro-geotechnical projects and conducting all work to satisfy all company, client and government conditions, policies, procedures, regulations and standards;
Developing pore pressure monitoring plans to support depressurisation verification processes and risk management;
Preparing proposals, tenders, reports and other technical deliverables;
Carrying out client and business development activities including preparing presentations to clients; and
Providing technical guidance and mentoring of junior engineers.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree with specialisations in Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or related discipline. Post-graduate qualifications will be highly regarded;
Solid technical knowledge and application in Hydrogeology, Mining Geotechnical Engineering, and Soil/Rock Mechanics;
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills;
Understanding of risk management and communication tools; and
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
