Golder have been contracted to provide technical and hands on support for the construction of a large groundwater barrier wall approximately 1.5 km long and up to 100 m deep. Works will include the construction of a cut-off wall using slurry trench technology and an underlying curtain constructed using drilling and grouting methods. The project is in the Pilbara region of WA, will involve rostered FIFO work with a combination of day and night shifts supporting a 24/7 construction schedule. This is a rare opportunity to be involved in this type of ground improvement project for one of Australia’s major mining companies.
Currently we are looking for Laboratory Technicians who have site-based experience within construction and mining projects for fixed term contract roles.
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
Operating, cleaning and maintaining testing and laboratory equipment (e.g., compressive strength testing, particle size distribution, moisture contents, etc.);
QA/QC sampling collection, testing and data recording;
Preparing testing reports and coordinating shipping of samples for off-site high-end testing;
Working with Project Engineers, Site Technicians and wider team to complete day to day duties;
Supporting Technical Site Manager, Site Co-Ordinator and other team members as required;
Promoting a strong HSE culture, supporting and complying with the project HSE requirements and processes.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
Possession of relevant certificates/qualifications or experience;
Site-based (mining/construction) experience, including FIFO or remote location work will be highly regarded;
Relevant laboratory experience (soil, rock and concrete testing) will be highly regarded;
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with excellent time management skills;
Demonstrated commitment to occupational health & safety;
High attention to detail, thorough and diligent at work tasks, a self-starter;
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
Open Australian drivers licence (automatic or manual)
First aid qualification highly regarded
