Golder Associates Laboratory Technician in West Perth, Australia

Golder has a new opportunity for an Laboratory Technician to join our team based in Perth on a full-time basis. You will be working with driven professionals across multi-discipline groups to deliver a wide variety of contaminated land projects in Perth and across wider Western Australia.

Key duties and responsibilities will include

  • Undertake routine field and laboratory tests on soil, aggregate, rock and other materials e.g. geosynthetics, in line with the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) standards.

  • Conduct testing of soil grading, Atterberg limits, compaction, CBR and routine field testing.

  • Assist with the maintenance, calibration and set up of equipment for use in testing in line with NATA standards.

  • Provide support with shipping, receiving, logging, handling, storage and disposal of samples.

  • Undertake classification and testing of samples for analysis with senior review.

  • Undertake basic calculations and data entry for reporting in line with NATA standards.

  • Liaise with internal and external clients, with a focus on delivering against project deadlines.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Some experience in laboratory testing of soil and rock to NATA standards is an advantage although full training will be provided.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs.

  • Excellent attention to detail with strong literacy and numeracy skills (written and verbal)

  • Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent preferred, but not essential.

  • Construction Induction Card (White Card).

  • Manual drivers licence.

  • Understand and follow Golder health, safety and environment policies and procedures.

  • Display a safety first attitude and always be conscious of health and safety.

  • Identify and report hazards, near misses and incidents in the HSE Learnings Database.

  • Actively raise HSE issues with peers, contractors and visitors and assist in seeking resolution for identified issues.

  • Actively eliminate and control hazards related to routine and non-routine tasks on a daily basis using the hazard control hierarchy.
