Golder Associates Principal Process/Mechanical Engineer in West Perth, Australia

Golder has a new opportunity for a Principal Process/Mechanical Engineer to join our Mine Waste team on a full-time basis based in Perth. This is a newly created role ideal for someone looking to be part of an expanding group.

Key duties andresponsibilities include:

  • Provide technical direction and lead tailings dewatering andtransport evaluations from concept through to detailed engineering andcommissioning

  • Maintain effective client relationships and generate consultingbusiness

  • Develop opportunities for tailings dewatering and transportprojects

  • Build and maintain business networks and grow the Golder brand

  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional andinternational consulting assignments

  • Provide engineering guidance to support tailings managementprojects, including definition of technical requirements, alternativesidentification and concept selection

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to staff in the regionalteam and review their project work

  • Deliver project management and technical excellence for tailings,mine water, heap leach and similar assignments

  • Contribute to Golder’s global technical community in thedevelopment of technical standards and best-practice related to tailingsdewatering and transport

Skills,Qualifications, and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Process/Chemical/Mechanical/Civil or similar withover 10 years of experience working in a similar position

  • Experience in design and operation of tailings dewatering andtransport systems

  • Experience completing and checking slurry hydraulic calculations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, includingreport writing, presentations and client liaison

  • Access to local industry knowledge and contacts

  • Ability to work independently and also within multi-disciplinaryproject teams

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills

  • Demonstrable commitment and proactive approach to health andsafety culture

  • Proven ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines andpriorities

  • Previous consulting experience is an advantage but is not essential

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing high quality service toclients within budget and time constraints
