Golder Associates Project Hydrogeologist in West Perth, Australia

Golder has a new opportunity for a Hydrogeologist to join our Mine Water team on a full-time basis based in Perth. The focus of this role is to assist Senior Hydrogeologists with water supply development, mine dewatering and pit depressurisation, pond and tailings facility seepage, pit and underground inflows, and groundwater contamination.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate field programs;

  • Undertake field monitoring, data collation and database management;

  • Supervise field drilling and well installations, single and multi-well testing and sampling activities;

  • Collate and interpret climate, geological data / maps, groundwater level and water quality data and other information to define hydrogeological systems;

  • Prepare proposals, reports and deliverables for senior staff review;

  • Develop knowledge and understanding of hydro chemistry and its importance in defining baseline conditions and groundwater processes;

  • Develop conceptual models of groundwater systems; and

  • Provide support to the team in relation to client liaison, project management and delivery.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, earth sciences or equivalent

  • Experience with a ground water modeling software package (TUFLOW, MODFLOW or Similar)

  • Post-graduate studies in hydrogeology (preferred)

  • Relevant experience in geology/hydrogeology

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and good time management skills

  • Enthusiasm for fieldwork and willingness to work at times on remote sites

  • Previous consulting experience in a similar role (preferred)
