Golder Associates Tailings Engineer in West Perth, Australia

Golder has a new full-time opportunity within our Global Mining team for a Tailings Engineer, based in Perth. Due to recently securing a number of key projects, we are looking for an experienced Intermediate level Tailings/Mine Waste Engineer to work on a number of projects in Perth and across Western Australia.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Leading projects to deliver engineering services with respect to mine waste management and task management with input from senior staff;

  • Leading the design of tailings storage facilities, landfills and other earthen structures, from conceptual through detailed design stages under the guidance of senior staff;

  • Undertaking field and office assignments to support project delivery;

  • Directing routine design analyses and undertaking complex design analyses, including slope stability, dam break studies, seepage, water balance, surface water and groundwater and train junior personnel;

  • Regular client contact through project meetings and business development initiatives;

  • Delivery of projects, delegating work and checking that deliverables are met ahead of formal internal reviews; and

  • Proving input to laboratory tests, including direction testing programs and interpreting results where applicable.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Qualified Civil/Mining Engineer or similar, with a relevant post graduate degree in either business or a relevant technical discipline would be looked upon favourably;

  • Demonstrated experience working on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment and proactive approach to health and safety culture;

  • Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary project teams;

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and report writing skills
