Golder has a new opportunity for a Pavement & Geotechnical Technician to join our Pavement & Geotechnical Engineering team based in Whitby, Ontario .
An overview of your role will include:
Carrying out field work including pavement investigations, site reconnaissance, borehole drilling, falling weight deflectometer testing (FWD), IPro testing, asphalt and concrete coring
Maintaining Golder’s equipment;
Scheduling laboratory testing;
Carrying out specific field and office assignments related to pavement engineering;
Assisting in coordinating and performing pavement engineering field investigations;
Working with and providing support to other members of the field technician team;
Assisting with the preparation of engineering documents including reports, drawings and figures;
Demonstrating a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff;
Complete data entry and analysis of field investigations and laboratory results;
Compile engineering reports;
Traveling to complete field investigations within Ontario for extended periods;
Maintaining a high standard of ethical behavior to uphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values; and,
Performing other duties as required.
You will have a background in:
College or University Degree in a Geotechnical / Civil Engineering program, preferably with a focus on Geotechnical / Pavement Engineering;
Previous experience working as a geotechnical technician is an asset;
Written and spoken English are required;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Hands on skills, troubleshooting equipment repairs;
Knowledge of drilling and coring procedures is an asset;
Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license;
Strong organizational skills.
