Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Ground Engineering Group for a full-time basis located at the Whitby office. As a junior engineer, you will work with senior and intermediate project managers and geotechnical colleagues on a variety of projects, with particular emphasis on geotechnical and foundations engineering for infrastructure, rail, pipelines, land development and power projects.
Anoverview of your role will include:
Carrying outfield investigations, including borehole layout, utility clearances,supervision of drill rigs and/or excavators, logging boreholes and test pits, surveying,and slope inspections;
Performingconstruction site reconnaissance, observations and inspections (for example,footing inspections, nuclear gauge testing, and concrete testing);
Reviewingsoil and rock samples in our laboratory, scheduling geotechnical laboratorytesting, and compiling test results for use on engineering projects;
Summarizingand analyzing findings from reconnaissance/inspections, investigations and labtesting;
Analyzingand modelling slope stability, settlement, foundation design, soil retainingstructures and other geotechnical problems;
Preparing orassisting with preparing engineering memos, reports, and presentations.
While the primary focus will be on civil/geotechnical engineering projects in the Greater Golden Horseshoe, opportunities will exist to work with other divisions in Golder’s multidisciplinary offices, as well as other Golder offices in Ontario and beyond.
Youwill have a background in:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geotechnical (Civil orGeological) Engineering;
Eligible or in the process of obtaining OntarioP.Eng. designation;
Strong people skills and a desire and abilityto work in a team environment;
Excellent communication skills (both oral andwritten);
Demonstrating a “Safety-First” focus and actingas a role model to other staff;
Maintaining a high standard of behaviour touphold Golder’s reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values;
