Golder Associates Ltd. is seeking a Intermediate Pavement and Materials Engineer to join our Geotechnical Engineering Group as part of our Ontario Operations, at our Whitby location. As a junior analyst to intermediate engineer, you will work with junior to senior geotechnical colleagues on a variety of projects, with particular emphasis on pavement and materials engineering for infrastructure, rail, pipelines, land development and power projects.

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to (depending on level of experience):

  • Working in a team environment providing pavement and materials engineering services;

  • Assisting with or leading the executing pavement and materials engineering projects from the proposal stage, to planning, execution and / or directing field programs, through data analysis and detailed design, to reporting and delivering solutions to our clients;

  • Assist or act as the Lead pavement and materials engineering, contract administrator, and/or project manager for engineering projects for a wide variety of public (i.e. municipal / MTO) and private sector clients;

  • Providing technical direction and mentoring to junior staff;

  • Ensuring quality control/quality assurance of field work, field data analysis and interpretation, and engineering calculations;

  • Assist senior staff in managing our client relationships, including business and new client development to expand the scope of our existing services; and,

  • Performing other duties as required.

While the primary focus will be on civil / geotechnical engineering projects in the Greater Toronto Area, opportunities will exist to work with other groups in Golder’s multidisciplinary offices, as well as other Golder offices in Ontario and beyond.

The successful candidate will possess the following skill and qualifications (depending on level of experience):

  • University graduate with a degree in civil engineering;

  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with PEO/P.Eng;

  • 4 to 8 years (intermediate) of relevant working experience since graduation;

  • A sound base in the application of pavement and materials engineering and problem solving;

  • Proven experience in planning and supervising complex pavement and materials investigations and in writing reports and technical communications;

  • Proven experience in contract administration and quality control / quality assurance testing;

  • Proven experience in undertaking pavement and material field testing, and analyzing FWD data and AASHTO design software;

  • Strong interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills;

  • Strong written and oral communication (English) skills;

  • Valid driver’s license.
