Golder has a new opportunity for an Intermediate Laboratory Technician to join our laboratory team on a full-time basis based in Whitby, Ontario.
An overview of your role will include:
Assist in preparing proposals in response to external client requests or new opportunities, including scope, timeline, schedule and budget
Work with Lab Supervisor to resource projects
Collaborate with Project Managers/Directors to review and discuss laboratory results and provide context and explanation
Organizing and Testing Samples
Collect, label, sort, handle, and test samples
Prepare and use the appropriate equipment and apparatus for the required tasks in the manner intended
Conduct moderate to high complexity tests independently
Maintain detailed notes and ensure appropriate filing is completed
Complete required work tasks, while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements
Interpret and apply results proficiently to ensure the quality and accuracy of the product
Oversee and review basic testing and test results of junior technicians
Monitor the progress of tests until completion
Record relevant data and observation through the appropriate means, medium, and/or equipment
Record test data, file and manage all project related laboratory notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation
Health, Safety, Security and Environment
Ensure proper care, handling, storage, and disposal of samples and products in accordance with laboratory and industry control and practices (e.g. WHMIS and SDS)
Identify and reporting potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs
Maintenance and Clean Up
Clean, maintain, repair and calibrate appropriate laboratory equipment
Complete general laboratory cleaning and maintenance as required
Assist with the stocking and re-ordering of laboratory supplies
Teamwork and Collaboration
Work with and support other Golder employees in the field or office
Carry out laboratory work under the direction of more experienced Golder employees
Provide guidance/mentorship to junior Golder employees
You will have a background in:
Technical Diploma or certificate in a related discipline
5 years of experience in related discipline
Intermediate Excel understanding of database software
Must be CCIL Hot Mix Asphalt certified
Ability to complete physical labor as required
Effective communication ability
