Golder has a new opportunity for a Well Certified Technician to join our ConstructionGroup on a full-time basis based in Whitby,Ontario . This new opportunity will allow you to work in the operations and maintenance of ground water extraction and treatment systems, Well Abandonment operation with an AMS direct push Drill Rig throughout Southern and Central Ontario. The majority of your work will be within the GTA area, but some travel outside Ontario may be involved.

A groundwater extraction and treatment system typically consists of buried pipework, pumps, tanks, instrumentation, filters, carbon vessels, all within a self-contained room or sea-container. The equipment is powered either by compressed air and/or electricity.

Anoverview of your role will include:

  • On-sitesupervision and coordination of subcontractors

  • Supporton a AMS Environmental Drilling Equipment

  • The ability to attain Full CVOR A Class licence

  • Workingwith Hydrogeologists on Water Wells and or Monitoring Wells

  • WellDecommissioning of shallow Monitoring Wells

  • Samplingsoil and groundwater for laboratory analytical testing

  • Undertaking-assistingwith in-situ chemical oxidation projects (groundwater injections)

  • Responsibilityfor site Health and Safety as the on-site company representative

  • Maintenanceand repairs of groundwater extraction and treatment systems at variouslocations

  • Troubleshoot and understand the cause of treatment system shut-downs

  • Assistingprocess engineer in optimizing operation and maintenance of the systems

  • Reporting and filing field reports

  • Service– conduct in situ acid treatment and pump repairs

  • Monitor,record, repair a ground water containment system(s) within a high securityenvironment

  • Abilityto comply with Canadian Nuclear Safety Board security backgroundrequirement

Requirements:

  • Degreeor diploma from a recognized university or college in a related field

  • Have aclass 1 or 3 Well Technician license from the Ministry of theEnvironmental (MOE) Or worked with a Well Assistance License from the MOE

  • Have avalid driving license in good standing (drivers abstract will be required)

  • Strongcommunication skills, both written and verbal

  • Experiencein completing and maintaining daily job reports and cost control

  • Demonstratedexperience in the operation, repair and maintenance of industrialmechanical equipment

  • Experienceand exposure with monitoring and water well installation, sampling andclosure

  • Experienceand exposure with electrical/electronic controls

  • Experienceand exposure with pneumatic/hydraulic systems

  • Computerskills in word processing and e-mail systems

  • Demonstrated experience in working independently

  • Highly motivated

  • Strong Health and Safety knowledge
