Golder Associates has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to support mine closure and remediation projects in the Northwest Territories .

The successful candidate will be based in our Yellowknife, NWT office and will provide project management for projects in mine closure, site remediation and potentially other earth and environment projects, as part of a thriving and growing team based in the North.

An overview of your role will include:

  • Opportunity to manage exciting, multi-disciplinary and multi-year projects, with considerable opportunity for career advancement.

  • Responsible for managing budgets, scope, schedules, and client satisfaction while working closely with professionals from Golder’s teams across Canada, and supported by trained project coordinators.

  • Use project management tools, methods, and best practices to plan and manage projects in a way that aligns with the expectations of stakeholders and meet business needs. T

  • The role is client-facing, and strong interpersonal skills combined with direct communication, ethics and integrity is a must.

  • The project manager must be based in Yellowknife (the capital of the NWT), or willing to relocate. Yellowknife is a dynamic and beautiful destination in Northern Canada, offering many of the conveniences of a small city, together with unparalleled access to the outdoors, summer and winter. Yellowknife is a world-renowned tourism destination, famed for its Northern Lights.

T o be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated self-starter and have the following qualifications:

  • Required: Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business or related discipline

  • Required: minimum of eight (6) years or work experience, including three (3) years of consulting and/or project management experience

  • Required: demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work;

  • Required: understanding and adherence to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI)

  • Required: experience in identifying and mitigating against project risks and developing risk registers.

  • Required: expertise in project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs)

  • Required: highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure

  • Desirable: experience in managing multi-discipline teams

  • Desirable: proven focus on the management of clients and subcontractors

  • Desirable: PMI Project Management Professional or equivalent.

  • Desirable: experience in the use of MS Project and/or P6 Primavera

  • Desirable demonstrated experience managing projects with budgets in excess of $1M/year.
